The Bestie: That One Person

Whether you've known them forever or your just starting a friendship, almost all girls have had that one friend at some point in her life or another. They know what your thinking before you say it, they make you laugh, they piss you off, and through it all you know no one in the world who would be at your door step with that pint of Ben and Jerry's when you need it. They belt out songs in the car with you and flip people "the bird" when they give you dirty looks. They can be serious when you need them to be , and they can go completely nuts with you and laugh at things other people just wouldn't understand i.e. cracking up hysterically when your bestie nods her head while smiling a creepily big smile! Kathryn, I went through high school without one and I never thought I could find someone who fit so perfectly into my life as a best friend. Yea, we have our tiffs and stuff but I could not ask for a better friend. A bestie lifts you up when you are down and in return you do the same. It is a two way road that involves, trust, honesty, communication, and love.

Tell me about your bestie...

Clothes: The post we've all been waiting for!

What better a friend then an item of self expression. Although we are not truly original because most of us purchase our clothes from stores, we have the freedom in America to choose what we want to wear. For me shopping is not just a hobby, it is an addiction! I find it a way to express how I am feeling. When I go on trips I often bring my entire closet. When I am asked why, I simply reply, "I don't know how I am going to feel those days". There is a process to my outfit choice each day. I wake up and instantly turn on News 12 NJ weather while I do my hair and makeup. I listen to the weather for the day and use that information in choosing my outfit. Then I think about how I feel that day. If I wake up in a good mood, I typically pick out very matchy cute outfits, and on the flip side if I wake up feeling tired I wear more comfortable outfits. If I wake up in an amazing mood, I might even put the effort into putting on a matching necklace or earrings. I think in MOST cases, girls use clothes as a form of self expression. An outfit says a lot about someone's personality and or mood. I personally love what I call grandma sweaters. You could ask any of my friends and they will tell you this definitely suits my personality because they all call me grandma because I typically fall asleep ridiculously early, and I clip coupons.
Do you use clothes as a way to express yourself?

Ben and Jerry: The Anytime Snack

Aahh, the sound of those two names make me happy just thinking about them. Ice cream is something me and my friends have used as comfort food, celebration food, summer snack, winter snack, birthday cake, you name it! Most often when you here the word girl and ice cream in the same sentence, you think "Breakup", or something like that. Beside the usual stereotypical use for ice cream, I happen to enjoy it in a multitude of other ways. While watching a movie with my best friends, on top of apple pie, in the summer on a cone by my pool. Below I pasted my favorites, so why don't you all tell me yours!

Family: The Support Group

Throughout life, my family has had its' ups and downs but through it all I have known no matter what they would be their when I needed them. When friends fell short or life just plain sucked they listened without judging because of their unconditional love. Now, I am completely aware some people do not have this privilege or are not blessed with a good family, but I am writing this from what I have gone through and observed in my other friends. I am one of six children, and I can always count on them to be their when no one else is, to put a new perspective on a situation, to give me a reality check, and to be my friends when no one else was there. My brothers and my younger sister truly are the best friends a girl could ask for because they are the ONLY people I know who are 100% real and honest. Many people talk the talk, but when it comes to walking the walk my family has always stepped in.
If you can relate please tell me about a time when your family really stepped in as your support group, or when you realized how fortunate you were to have that kind of unconditional love.

Make Up: The Security Blanket

I don't know about anyone else but lately I have come to realize that I think I would rather lock myself indoors and close the blinds, than leave my house without first applying the daily dose of makeup. The necessities: coverup, eyeliner, mascara. Without those three small items I feel like a walking zombie from a horror movie! You don't have to apply much, just a bit here and there and bam! You look more lively and rejuvenated. As little girls we have Barbie heads we makeup and as we get older our friends takeover that position. I personally don't use much other than my three essentials but some people make it their artful expression. People where makeup for different reasons and I think that is a girls perogative. Have you ever felt lost because you forgot your travel makeup? Why do you wear makeup?

Cosmo: The Woman Bible

We're all guilty. You know you've done it, so don't even bother denying. You're at the grocery store and there it is. Like a ray of light from heaven itself; Cosmo. With its risky topics, and sexy covers the intrigue is just too much. So you buy it and can't help but read it cover to cover. The reason I chose Cosmopolitan Magazine for my third girl's best friend is because I haven't met anyone who doesn't get some type of laugh, giggle, or thread of entertainment from it. Whether you read the embarrassing stories, hot single guys of the month, of how to please your man section, there is something inside for every woman. I will admit this magazine is one of my guilty pleasures. My favorite section is the embarrassing moments because the stories literally make me laugh out loud.

What was your most embarrassing moment, or an embarrassing moment your heard?
or
What's your favorite section of Cosmo?

Candles

The first thing I notice when I walk into an unfamiliar house is it's very unique scent. I have an extremely strong sense of smell, and I love the pleasant smell of a burning scented candle. I am not very picky when it comes to the specific scent, however I usually prefer seasonal odors. In summer and spring my room typically smells of Summer Breeze, or Fresh Linen. In the autumn the smell of Spiced Pumpkin fills the air, and throughout winter that scent shifts to Sparkling Pine and Christmas Cookies. The sense of smell is the most significant in my life probably because it is the most profound. I think candles are one of a girls best friends because we love the alluring scents they offer. Have you ever walked into your brother's room or any guys room for that matter and smelled the disgusting aroma of sweat, fart, and drool. WELL I HAVE, and that is why candles have become on of my very best friends.

What is your favorite scent?
